We the entire Beach Court Community will create a child-centered learning environment where individuals are challenged to become responsible, productive, lifelong learners. (Beach Court Mission statement) Our playground will support this mission by creating a safe, multi-functional playground in a colorful, creative, and Diverse Environment.
Goals
- We will encourage community involvement during the design process, construction, and maintenance of the schoolyard.
- We will provide low maintenance sustainable plantings.
- We will install age appropriate play equipment. We will make the schoolyard ADA compliant.
- We will make the playground a safe area that will improve recreational and educational opportunities for both during school activities and after school programs
Design Development
Description
This plan uses the world map to organize spaces, highlighting the 7 continents and 7 wonders of the world as an overlay of culture, geography, and world history. The ordering system will be that of the seven continents: Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia, and the seven wonders of the world to promote life long learning and diversity the child’s understanding of culture while at play.
