School Description

Barrett Elementary, located in the Skyland Neighborhood,was built in 1959 and was named after Harry McWhirter Barrett. Harry Barrett was a teacher and an administrator in the Denver Public Schools for 20 years back in the early 1900’s.

Vision

Barrett Elementary will become an environment of exploration and discovery promoting lifelong learning skills.

Goals

  • To create gathering places for the Skyland residents.
  • To create a diversity of places, small and large, for children of all ages to explore and discover.
  • To reinforce the current curriculum through interactive learning.
  • To create opportunities for the Barrett students to contribute to the evolution of their school.
  • To provide visual interest in the landscape through verticality.
